HIV, women and motherhood

Estela Carrizo, Argentina—Estela is an Argentinean AIDS activist who discovered that she was HIV-positive at age 17 in 1988. Her courage and determination allowed her to rehabilitate from drug injection, to educate peers and medical staff on HIV issues and to live fully her life as a woman and as a mother.

Fourteen women share their most painful times, their resilience, their yearnings and their passions for change.

A series of interviews conducted at the International AIDS conference in Mexico in August 2008.
