HIV, women and motherhood

Dr Lydia Mungherera, Uganda—Lydia is an advocate working with the AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) in Uganda and a medical doctor. She relates the medical stigmatising circumstances of her HIV diagnosis in 1987 in South Africa and her work later on in Uganda in relation to motherhood.

Fourteen women share their most painful times, their resilience, their yearnings and their passions for change.

A series of interviews conducted at the International AIDS conference in Mexico in August 2008.
