Assistant Bishop, Rev George Fupe, presents copies of the workbooks to the participants.

Over 150 church leaders attended the launch of the Swahili editions of two ‘Called to Care’ workbooks at Magomeni Lutheran Church in Dar es Salaam.

Assistant Bishop Rev. George Fupe, Dean of Azania Front Cathedral, thanked everyone involved in producing the books and urged church leaders to use them in their ministries.  During the ceremony the congregation sang the hymn ‘Lord Jesus Christ, the cause is thine’.

Book no. 6, ‘The Child Within’ (‘Undani Wa Mtoto’) aims to promote resilience in children who have suffered grief and loss.  Book no. 7, ‘Call to Me’ (‘Niite’) consists of 20 Bible studies on topics related to HiV and AIDS.

The books were translated by three Tanzanians - Mrs Wandoa Mwambu, Dr Paschal Mdoe and Canon Alfred Sebahene.  The Swahili editions were funded by two German church agencies - Churches Helping Churches and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hessen and Nassau.

Both books are published and distributed by the Upendo Information and Counselling Centre, which is located at Mwananyamala House, no. 336 Lupiro Street, near Vijana Social Hall, Dar es Salaam.  Telephone +255 744 3892.
