Strategies for Hope: 27 Years On

The Strategies for Hope Trust has published its Annual Review for the 12 month period April 2015 – March 2016.

Begun in 1989, the Strategies for Hope project has since produced and distributed over 1.2 million copies of its information and training materials on HIV prevention, care and support.

These materials consist of 17 case study books, the Stepping Stones training package, 8 films and the 10 workbooks which constitute the Called to Care toolkit.  As well as English, many of these materials are available in French, Portuguese, Chichewa, Kiswahili and other languages.  They have been widely distributed, especially in sub-Saharan Africa but also in Asia and Latin America.

The Strategies for Hope Annual Review 2015/16 documents in detail the activities of the project during this 12 month period.  The Review describes how, for example, almost 2,000 church and community leaders attended training workshops in 12 African countries to learn how to make the best possible use of workbooks in the Called to Care toolkit.

The period covered by the Review was also marked by the steady wind-down of all Strategies for Hope activities, due to the imminent retirement of the project managers, Alison and Glen Williams.
